A New Book by End of 2026: The Athos Protocol

I am writing an updated version of "The Athos Diet" that will be launched as "The Athos Protocol". I think you will find it much more expanded, direct, effective, and relevant. Here is an excerpt from part of The Preface! Enjoy!

"The Preface:

I began writing The Athos Diet in 2017, during a formative and demanding period of my life in medical school. At that time, the project was less a formal undertaking and more an attempt to reconcile two worlds I was inhabiting simultaneously: the rigorous, evidence-based framework of modern medicine and the ancient, lived tradition of Christian fasting within the Orthodox Church. What began as curiosity gradually evolved into conviction.

The manuscript matured alongside me. It was further shaped during the early years after residency, while working in community emergency departments and witnessing, firsthand, the consequences of chronic disease, poor lifestyle habits, and spiritual emptiness. The arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic—and the isolation, fear, and disruption that followed—only sharpened these observations. In that stillness, both imposed and unexpected, the themes of the book took on greater clarity and urgency. By March of 2021, The Athos Diet was published on Amazon and later adapted into an audiobook available on Audible.

While the process of writing and publishing the book was deeply fulfilling, it was through conversation—particularly long-form podcast discussions—that its ideas were truly tested, refined, and expanded. These dialogues, often unscripted and wide-ranging, revealed something profound: that Christian fasting was not merely a religious practice or cultural artifact, but a powerful, underappreciated framework for understanding human health, the human spirit, and human nature. Again and again, I began to realize that Fasting had a breath and depth far reaching."
